SPELLING AND VOCABULARY
Here are the spelling word cards we used:
KALE
CORN
CARROT
LETTUCE
We traced the words with highlighters and we spelled/traced the words on our arms (this helps kinesthetic learners feel the word as they write it, for easier retention)
Vegetable ABC Video for Kids Learning Tube

GREEN BEAN MATH
Estimation Jars
Very simple, we put green beans in a jar and talked about estimation. Then we made our guesses and counted them. We talked about the strategies we each used to make our guesses. This is always a big hit! (Remember let your very little ones participate, even if they don't quite know what is going on, they will learn something!)
Sorting and Measuring: Each student gets a handful of green beans to sort from smallest to largest, then we measure and compare. If you would like to make this a group activity it is great for team building or cooperation practice as well.
SCIENCE
Exploring vegetables: Set up a table with a variety of vegetables with magnifying glasses and other science tools for examining. Then talk about the senses: what to they feel like, taste like, sound like, smell like, and look like... you will be surprised how even the pickiest of eaters will take a bite of a radish when it's a science activity!
Vegetable vs. Fruit: We kept this simple, fruits have seeds... and then we looked at plenty of fruits and vegetables to identify fruits vs. vegetables!
LIFE SKILLS
A trip to the grocery store or the farmers market is always eventful. Involve them in everything, choosing the veggies, paying, and bagging! It's great for little ones.
ART
Painting with vegetables was a hug hit! We even painted with fruit the next day... its a fun way to let your kiddos get messy and creative.
GET MOVING
The classic game of hot potato is always fun in our house. We have the musical game... but you can always use a real potato (or rolled socks) and play the music and stop in manually.
HAVE FUN!!!
