1. Spelling Words
SAFE, ROAD, STOP advanced HELMET
For Spelling Words, we usually write them on our arms, then trace the words with highlighters, this works really well for our littles, but there are many different strategies to use!
2. What is a PEDESTRIAN? Mobile
We took three index cards
1. That had the Letter Pp is for Pedestrian
2. That had the definition of Pedestrian (A person walking)
3. A blank card for them to draw a pedestrian
We hung them from a pedestrian road sign with string to make a mobile (see printable below)

2. Seatbelt Inertia Game
We put our dolls in the dump trucks (you can use any vehicles) and drove them crazy and even crashed into a box. When the dolls fell out, we talked about "staying in motion" and about safety belts. Then we used washi tape to make a seat belt for the dolls, and talked about how they stayed in the trucks when they crashed, because of the seat belts.
3. Inertia Game with Cars and Plates
This game was a huge hit! We put small cars on plates and ran around, then stopped and watched the cars roll right off the plate because of inertia...
ART
1. Paint Stop Lights
This is pretty straight forward, but it's a really great time to talk to the kids about stop, go, and slow while they are painting!
2. Make a Crosswalk
Use washi tape, white crayons, pre-cut shapes, and glue sticks to make this scene.
3. Design Your Dream Helmet
These printouts are from Mary Straw (see copyright information)
4. Stop Signs
We used washi tape to write STOP and painted red over it, then peeled the tape away to make the words. We then cut the paper plates into octagons and taped them to popsicle sticks.
MATHEMATICS
1. Race Car Measuring
We raced matchbox cars and used measuring tape to measure the distance from the starting line and recorded the results.
2. Making Octagons (practice with scissors)
We talked about shapes and angles (8 sides and 8 angles on an octagon) all while practicing cutting with scissors.
GET ACTIVE/IMAGINATIVE PLAY
1. Crossing Guard Play
We dressed up like crossing guards and used tape to make a crosswalk and each kiddo got a chance to be the crossing guard and help us cross the street.
2. Red Light, Green Light (This classic game needs no description!)
